A year-long planning process has resulted in publication of Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons: A Comprehensive Review. Editor in Chief John W. Frymoyer, MD, is assisted by Associate Editors Laurence E. Dahners, MD, Joseph P. Iannotti, MD, PhD, and Robert L. Larson, MD, and a 25-member editorial review board composed of prominent US surgeons representing all areas of orthopaedics.
The editorial board's goal is to provide the latest information about diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders for members of the academy and for orthopaedic and professional colleagues throughout the world. The journal is designed to complement the academy's other educational publications, such as the instructional course lectures, monograph series, symposium series, and orthopaedic knowledge updates.
To achieve its mission, the editorial board states that the journal's bimonthly issues will cover a wide range of topics rather than focus on a single subspecialty; bibliographies will be limited to
