Abstract

This is a very aggressive and ambitious effort to provide the definitive work by an established author and expert on disorders of the foot and ankle. As a second edition, it is impressive to the extent that it has been revised. The list of contributors is extensive, almost 150 individuals, many with recognized expertise in the areas in which they write.

The most notable change from the previous edition is that the present one has expanded from two to three volumes, all prior topics are covered in more detail, and new chapters have been added. The overall organization is reasonable and useful, with the first volume primarily devoted to basic science and pediatric issues, the second dealing with problems of the adult foot, and the final volume discussing traumatic conditions, their treatment complications, and rehabilitation.
