Abstract

With an ambitious scope and purpose, Nature Medicine intends to "bridge the gap between cutting edge biological research and more clinically oriented human investigation," making molecular medicine accessible to biomedical researchers as well as clinicians. Its authors are drawn from communities representing academic research, pharmaceutical and biotechnology laboratories, public health, and epidemiology. Authors are instructed to aim for clarity of presentation, placing scientific developments into a medical context. Abstracts and introductory paragraphs are written with the nonspecialist in mind.

The newest sibling publication to Nature Genetics and Nature Structural Biology has a similar format. Each issue contains news, editorials, reviews, original research articles, and new technology features. A "News and Views" section offers commentary on articles in the same issue or in other recent publications.
