We could not agree more with Dr Raskin's concern that DNR decisions are too often made by those with the "least experience and training in such matters." We would encourage more formal education about nontreatment decisions in residensy programs. Furthermore, senior faculty and attending physicians should not leave these critical and delicate matters to the youngest and most inexperienced physicians. To do so is not only a disservice to patients and families but may be quite harmful to the professional and personal development of young physicians.
