In Reply.—  Since the publication of our article, "Inadvertent Transbronchial Insertion of Narrow-Bore Feeding Tube Into the Pleural Space," two more articles1,2 that I have reviewed have appeared on the same complication. Dr Bohnker and Dr Alessi and colleagues have pointed out two further articles on the same subject. These several reports from different centers suggest that the frequency of this complication is greater than previously suspected. When placing these tubes, an x-ray film should be obtained before feeding, to ascertain correct positioning.
