Abstract

In Reply.—  We wish to thank Peter Issitt for his thoughtful comments about our recent report in The Journal. We plan to compare the albumin-to-IAT method we currently use when testing serum samples for unexpected antibodies with the saline-to-IAT method. If the comparison shows the saline-to-IAT method to be comparable with the albumin-to-IAT method, our pretransfusion compatibility testing protocol will be modified so that an additional cost reduction can be effected in our laboratory.
