An error occurred in the ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION entitled "Seroepidemiological Studies of HTLV-III Antibody Prevalence Among Selected Groups of Heterosexual Africans," published in the Nov 8 issue of The Journal (1985;254:2599-2602). On page 2601, the second sentence in the figure legend should have read as follows: "Serum samples represented include the following: 1, standard HTLV-III antibody-positive [not 'with'] human serum; 2, standard HTLV-III antibody-negative [not 'without'] human serum; 3, patient with AIDS-related complex (ARC); 4, patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS); and 5, healthy carrier."
