—In the Medical News & Perspectives article entitled "FDA Gives Calcium Channel Blockers Clean Bill of Health but Warns of Short-Acting Nifedipine Hazards," published in the February 14, 1996, issue of THE JOURNAL (1996;275:423-424), information regarding the meta-analysis by Robert Makuch, PhD, should be clarified. On page 423, right-hand column, first paragraph, eighth line, the sentence should read: "The other meta-analysis, which focused on verapamil alone, showed that in postmyocardial infarction patients there was no evidence of harm with respect to mortality and a suggestion of benefit with respect to nonfatal reinfarctions."
