Abstract

In Reply.  —We completely agree with the comments of Drs Caputo and Weitekamp. Oral metronidazole and vancomycin have equal efficacy in the treatment of mild to moderate C difficile colitis. The relative efficacy of each agent in patients with severe disease warrants further investigation.
