Abstract

This excellent multiauthored text, like its previous edition, is directed at the dermatologist but has been made accessible to any physician interested in diagnosing and treating skin problems. It therefore serves well as a comprehensive text for dermatology residents to read thoroughly. Its user-friendly index, appearing in each volume, makes it just as good a choice for the practicing dermatologist seeking recent information applicable to difficult cases.

The basic organization of the text has not changed significantly. Many of the sections have been expanded or split into separate sections with separate authors. The number of contributors has thereby increased from 85 to 146. The text has been updated significantly. For example, Lyme disease was not even mentioned in the old edition's index (only erythema chronicum migrans is found), whereas the new book has improved and expanded coverage of that problem.
