Incorrect Statement.  —In the Medical News & Perspectives article entitled "Increasing Use of Computerized Recordkeeping Leads to Legislative Proposals for Medical Privacy," published in the July 24/31, 1996, issue of THE JOURNAL (1996;276:270-272), an incorrect statement on page 270 refers to the Leahy-Bennett bill (S-1360) now under consideration by Congress. The bill does not require that consent to participate in research must be obtained.
