To the Editor.
—I have read with great interest the article on prevalence of alcohol-impaired driving.1 It was interesting to see the great interstate variations in drunken driving reported. But has anyone compared it with interstate variations in motor vehicle crashes? Can this tell us anything about how dangerous alcoholimpaired driving is?It might be interesting to see if the high incidence of reported alcohol-impaired driving in Wisconsin and Michigan, as compared with Oklahoma and Maine, is leading to a greater number of traffic accidents. Or is it just that the Midwesterners are more honest when answering?
