Koop Convenes Tobacco Policy Advisory Group

TO INSURE that the voices of public health advocates will be heard if Congress enacts legislation to settle the rising tide of lawsuits against the tobacco industry, former US Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, MD, has convened an Advisory Committee on Tobacco Policy and Public Health. In addition to co-chairs Koop and former US Food and Drug Administration commissioner David Kessler, MD, JD, the panel includes: John Banzhaf, Action on Smoking and Health; Mike Pertschuk, Advocacy Institute; Robert Graham, MD, American Academy of Family Physicians; George Comerci, MD, American Academy of Pediatrics; John Seffrin, American Cancer Society; D.
