Abstract

—In the Medical News & Perspectives article entitled "First Type I Diabetes Prevention Trials," published in the April 9, 1997, issue of The Journal (1997;277:1101-1102), an incorrect statement appears. The second sentence in the first paragraph in the third column on the top of page 1102 should read: "According to the JDFI, approximately 16 million people in the United States and 100 million to 120 million worldwide have diabetes, between 5% and 10% of whom have IDDM."
