Abstract

There is nothing novel in the subject-matter of this book or in the method of treating it. Inspection, palpation, mensuration, succussion, percussion and auscultation of the thorax and abdomen are described accurately, and what can be learned from these methods of examination is fully stated. The causes of the phenomena demonstrated by physical examination in health and disease are given with theoretical explanations. The illustrations which are mostly diagnostic are useful, and many are in part or wholly original.
