This is one of a growing class of books instigated by the request of students to their teachers for a résumé of forthcoming lectures. It is not intended, as the writer frankly admits, "to fill a long felt want, but rather as a guide to students in their reading." Employed in this manner it may certainly be of advantage to such readers, but it is no more than an outline of the subject of dermatology, and can in no wise serve as a substitute for the complete works. The author has done well in giving the synonyms, scientific and vulgar, for the most approved names of the diseases considered. This is often of no small advantage to the student.
