This is a monograph of 176 pages, in good type and paper. It contains a carefully classified list of the plants and shrubs of the United States reputed to contain medicinal properties of some value; and the supposed properties of each are briefly stated. It contains a list of the abrevīations of authors, a table of orders, an index of both generic and common names, and an index of diseases. In the introduction it is stated that the medicinal plants of the United States embrace about 140 orders; 620 genera, and more than 1,300 species and varieties. The author has expended much time and labor in the preparation of this work, and it will be found very convenient and valuable for reference.
