This work is an anatomic and experimental study of operations on the stomach and intestines. The repair of intestinal wounds, as described in the opening chapter, is made the basis of the technic of the various operations described in the subsequent chapters. The experimental work has been done thoroughly and conscientiously and the conclusions conservatively drawn. Not all of the recognized operations have been described in the technical part, but sufficient of them to enable one to meet practically any condition which is likely to arise. The numerous illustrations are well executed and clearly depict the points to be brought out. The descriptions are clear and concise, and one can not read the book without being impressed with the fact that the author has done a very creditable piece of work which will be of much value to all who are doing gastrointestinal surgery.
