ILLINOIS 

Pneumonia Quarantine Ordered.  —The health commissioner of Chicago issued a notice, November 25, to the effect that "Pneumonia is a contagious disease and under city ordinances must be reported to the Department of Health. Beginning December 1, the Commissioner of Health will placard all reported cases of pneumonia."

Personal.  —Col. William Stephenson, M. C., U. S. Army, department surgeon, Central Department, has been transferred to a similar position in the Eastern Department, with station at Governor's Island, N. Y.—Col. Henry I. Raymond, M. C., U. S. Army, Fort Mason, Calif., has succeeded Colonel Stephenson as department surgeon, Central Department.— Dean Arthur I. Kendall of Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, delivered an address on "Recent Development in Intestinal Bacteriology,"
