COOK, M.D.CHICAGO.It is with no little temerity that I enter on my duties of opening this Section of the Fifty-fourth Annual Session of the American Medical Association, while it is a great pleasure to appear in this capacity in my native heath, as it were, for my childhood and early boyhood days were spent in the sunny south, and I feel that my early impression enables me to appreciate the high-grade sensitiveness of the southern gentleman, and when, added to this, he is one of our own cloth, I feel that I can bespeak for myself and my brethren the cordial welcome always accorded a visitor in the southern fold.To this glorious old city that
