Noticing recently an account in The Journal of a case of cretinism, from Fairfield, Iowa, and the fact that mention was made of the number of cases reported in this state, I thought perhaps the presentation of a far more advanced case might be of interest.

History.  —April 4 of this year, a child was brought to my office by the mother, the gross appearance of which was that of a baby 18 months to 2 years old, with the exception of the head, which was enormously enlarged. The actual age was 8 years and 6 months, and its weight, twenty-seven pounds.
