Abstract

This work consists of a collection of the articles written during the past thirty-five years by the late Wm. Stokes, and edited by Wm. Taylor. All the articles have appeared elsewhere in the various medical journals at the time they were written, with the exception of the two South African papers added by Mr. Taylor. Most of the chapters are so old, some of them even antedating the antiseptic era, that they can have little more than a historic value. Collectively they illustrate fairly well the progress of surgery from early Listerism down to recent times.
