This third edition of Egbert's well-known work should have a generally favorable acceptance, not merely by the profession, but also by a large portion of the non-professional public who are more or less interested in sanitary matters. It is one of the best popular statements of general hygienic principles that we have and deserves a wide circulation. The present edition has been revised and includes some recent data as shown by the latest statistics, though in the main it is much like the previous editions and has not been specially enlarged.
