Cohnheim divides his book into two parts—general and special. In the first he considers the history of the patient, the physical and chemical examination, and the various methods employed for conducting these and apparatus needed. Stress is laid on the importance of the history and a thorough and painstaking physical examination which often leads to a correct diagnosis. In the second part are discussed the diseases of the several parts of the digestive tract. The book abounds in many excellent diet lists and useful prescriptions.
