Abstract

The report of a case of polymyositis acuta, by Dr. J. B. Herrick, in the American Journal of the Medical Sciences for April 1896, and his reference therein to the literature of the subject especially as to its bearings upon its etiology and the evident interest taken by the profession, relative to this feature of these cases, leads me to make the following brief report, which I take in the form of an abstract from my individual case report book, of the history of three cases, occurring simultaneously in the same locality, of what I at the time considered typical cases of polymyositis acuta. Subsequent study and observation of this class of cases have only tended to confirm the diagnosis made at the time.
