Abstract

No important change has been made in issuing a new edition of this handy little volume. The general arrangement and plan of the work makes it a ready guide for the student, as well as enabling a quick reference for the busy practitioner.

Prof. Tyson still holds—and we do not know but wisely—to the superior reliability of the timehonored "heat" test for albumen. In the light of claims—which are not without well-accepted authority—put forth from time to time of late years, we were prepared to see their advocacy or adoption; but in language not to be misunderstood the author treats the claims honestly, and as honestly expresses his thorough satisfaction with those tests which in his hands have left but little more to be desired.
