Native Americans and Cancer

Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who are of Native American descent have a higher risk of relapse, which may be mitigated by an additional course of chemotherapy, according to a study funded by the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (Yang JJ et al. Nat Genet. doi: 10.1038/ng.763 [published online ahead of print February 6, 2011]).
