Abstract

To the Editor:—  Interesting... but not true. Air is a gassssss. It is therefore the most compressible of all substances. It is not "puffing up" and "swelling out" of intestine that causes pain. But a cramp in intestinal musculature ahead of gas (and solid fluid), severe enough to impede even gas, will cause pain.Didja ever worry over the case of an intestine containing no gas?
