To the Editor:—
I read the editorial with interest. It states "... although one would not wish to hypothecate...." Unfortunately, the word "hypothecate" means to pledge or to pawn, and not to hypothesize, which is presumably the usage intended in the editorial. I suppose this illustrates the dangers inherent in casting stones. I had better read this letter carefully to make sure that I too do not become a target.
