Abstract

The combination of developing teeth, intramembranous bone formation, and mucous membranes subjected to a variety of irritants, makes the oral cavity the site of a significant number of unique pathological conditions. In this book the author has elaborated upon an important aspect of oral pathology, namely, the tumors. He approaches the subject broadly, however, so that it also includes a number of non-neoplastic oral lesions that must be considered in differential diagnosis.

The material is presented in several main sections: tumors of the dental tissues, tumors of debatable dental origin, primary nondental tumors, metastatic tumors of the oral tissues, salivary gland tumors, and dysplasias of bone. The various sections are subdivided into chapters, each dealing with a particular type of tumor or related group of tumors. There is also a brief section dealing with the embryology and histology of the oral tissues for readers without any specialized knowledge of these
