The present volume, Blood Coagulation, Hemorrhage and Thrombosis: Methods of Study, represents the second edition of a book which originally appeared in 1955 under the title, The Coagulation of Blood: Methods of Study. This furnished a compendium of methods used in this specialized field, and was intended for the guidance of investigators. Following the untimely death of Dr. Tocantins, Dr. Kazal has carried on the editorship to complete the revision.

Within the three major areas—blood coagulation, hemorrhage, and thrombosis —is a total of 19 subdivisions, each of which contains from 1 to 16 separate contributions offering precise directions for appropriate tests.
Among the subjects discussed are the processing of blood; thrombin and its precursors; anticoagulants in blood, plasma, and serum; tissue
