A two-part symposium on "Interdisciplinary Aspects of Lipid Research" is scheduled during the April 24-27 spring meeting of the American Oil Chemists' Society at the Statler-Hilton, Los Angeles.

Efforts will be made to define some problems in lipid research and to report stages of development of some areas of investigation. The first part of the symposium, April 25-26, is co-sponsored by the American Medical Association and deals with phospholipids and glycolipids in membranes, including alteration in disease. Sequences of changes in lipids of animals, plants, and microorganisms after death will be considered in the second part, to be co-sponsored by the Organic Group of the Geochemical Society, April 26-27.

Among areas to be discussed in the biochemical initial phase are pathology and lipid metabolism of the eye, human genetics and lipid research, lipids of the skin, general and neuropathology and lipid research, histochemical and electron microscopic studies of lipidoses.
