Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics (ed 8, Saunder, 1964, $18) is the most appealing pediatrics text, with Pediatrics by L. E. Holt, R. McIntosh, and H. L. Barnett (ed 13, Appleton, 1962, $18) running a close second. Although many of the other available texts have features to recommend them, these two remain the favorites of practitioners, students, and teachers. The yearly Yearbook of Pediatrics, superbly edited by Sydney Gellis (Year Book, 1965, $8.50) and brightened by lively discussions, provides the best single means of keeping informed on details of reasonably current papers.
Certain miscellaneous texts deserve special mention. The posthumous edition of Wilkins' text (The Diagnosis and Treatment of Endocrine Disorders in Childhood and Adolescence, ed 3, Thomas, 1965, $26.50), written with the editorial assistance of Blizzard and Migeon, updates this excellent standard work. Pediatric Procedures by W. T. Hughes, Jr. (Saunders, 1964, $7.50) is the first reference on this subject,
