Abstract

Once again we have before us a copy of the proceedings of an international meeting on hyperbaric oxygenation. Like the proceedings of the first international congress (JAMA190:1082, 1964) these too are in book form, but with several improvements. The editor has been careful to arrange related papers into useful groups. In a new and developing field which lacks texts and reference manuals, this is the closest thing yet to a handbook. Another improvement is the careful documentation of the discussion which followed each paper. In these discussions, where obviously there was an atmosphere of free give-and-take, the information brought out proves to be both thought-provoking and useful. Any lantern slides that were used at the meetings are reproduced here for the reader's benefit.
