Part of a series of Dutch classics on the history of science, this volume presents, in facsimile, the inaugural dissertation of a many-sided Dutch physician of the 18th century who today is almost forgotten. The text, which has a good English translation, concerns the structure and function of the eye. There is an interesting introductory essay by the translator.
