Twelve years ago when the first edition of this book appeared, it was hailed properly as a milestone in the literature on ocular tumors. Since that time smaller texts have been published discussing specific tumors such as those of the orbit or of the lids, but "Reese" has remained the standard in the field and it is unlikely that there is an American ophthalmologist who does not have a copy in his library. The reason for this overwhelming popularity was the fact that the book was not simply a review and compilation of the world literature on ocular tumors but a record of the personal experiences of a man who had devoted over 20 years to the subject and was undoubtedly the world's leading authority on ocular neoplasms.
