This issue marks the 1-year anniversary of the JAMA Patient Page. In April 1998, JAMA launched the Patient Page as a public service to provide physicians with a tool to assist them in effectively communicating medical information to their patients.1 The Patient Page always appears as the last editorial page in each issue, just inside the back cover, and the topic is linked to 1 or more articles in the issue.
