The large amount of space required for the Index in this issue necessitates the omission of some departments and the abbreviation of those used.

THE INDEX  The fifty-ninth volume of The Journal is indexed in this number. As usual, the Index covers everything that has appeared in The Journal, including the titles and abstracts from current medical literature. As the latter have been chosen for their timeliness and importance, a perusal of the Index will show at a glance medical progress during the last six months; but the practical side of the Index is its greatest value to most physicians.
