Incorrect Statement

JAMA. 1998;279(3):198. doi:10.1001/jama.279.3.198

In the Editor's Note to the Original Contribution entitled "The Safety of Newborn Early Discharge" published in the July 23/30, 1997, issue of THE JOURNAL (1997;278:266 h), an incorrect statement was made. The first sentence should have read as follows: "Recent national legislation mandates insurance coverage for up to 48 hours following delivery for mothers and their newborns, with length of stay determined by the physician or midwife and the patient, despite limited research on this topic."
