Incorrect Text

JAMA. 2001;285(20):2582. doi:10.1001/jama.285.20.2582

The In Reply by Drs Kahn and Lagakos to the series of Letters entitled "Outcomes of a Trial of HIV-1 Immunogen in Patients With HIV Infection" published in the May 2, 2001, issue of THE JOURNAL (2001;285:2191-2195) contained incorrect text. On page 2194, in the last paragraph in column 1, the 4-sentence block of text that begins with "However, all this misses a basic point: . . . " and concludes with the sentence that begins "Only IRC can provide the reasons why . . . " was inadvertently included and should be deleted. With the exception of these 4 sentences, the published version of the last 4 paragraphs of the In Reply was reviewed by officials at IRC, as was stated in the Editor's Note that accompanied the series of letters.
