Error in Reporting of Exclusions

JAMA. 2016;316(10):1116. doi:10.1001/jama.2016.12448

In the Original Investigation entitled “Effect of Aspirin on Development of ARDS in At-Risk Patients Presenting to the Emergency Department: The LIPS-A Randomized Clinical Trial” published in the June 14, 2016, issue of JAMA,1 the presence of bilateral infiltrates was incorrectly reported as an exclusion criteria for the study. While the 1152 patients with bilateral infiltrates consistent with pulmonary edema were appropriately excluded from the study, the presence of bilateral infiltrates was not a prespecified exclusion criterion and these individuals were excluded for other reasons. The flow diagram and related text in the Results were corrected online.
