MICROSCOPIC FINDINGS AND CLINICAL COURSE

Biopsy sections demonstrated acanthosis and papillomatosis of the epidermis. Acantholysis was present at various levels as well as marked hyperkeratosis. A high-power view showed dyskeratotic cells, some of which resembled corps ronds.

MICROSCOPIC FINDINGS AND CLINICAL COURSE

The patient was prescribed tretinoin, 0.025%, cream nightly and triamcinolone acetonide, 0.1%, ointment once daily for 2 weeks, and that was then switched to hydrocortisone valerate, 2.5%, cream. She reported improvement in the pruritus as well as subjective improvement in the clinical appearance.
