What’s in a Name?Hailey-Hailey Disease

Brothers Howard and Hugh Hailey were the first to describe as a unique entity the genodermatosis that now bears their name. In the April 1939 issue of the Archives of Dermatology and Syphilology, the Drs Hailey described 2 brothers with similar recurrent flaccid blisters that eventually coalesced into pruritic “sharply marginated crusted lesions.”1(p679)
