An atlas of dermatopathology can be extremely helpful when one is first becoming acquainted with the appearance of the skin under the microscope. Phillip H. McKee's Essential Skin Pathology is one of the newest additions to an increasingly crowded marketplace, and it is one of the best atlases available. Essential Skin Pathology is not only an outstanding work with superb photomicrographs, but, unlike most atlases, it is also softcover, making it lightweight, easy to carry, and incredibly affordable, despite the use of full color throughout the book. In the preface, Dr McKee states, "This atlas has been specifically designed . . . to be affordable to even the most poorly paid junior member of staff!" and he has succeeded without question in this regard. At $59.95, the book is less than half the price of similar hardcover full-color atlases of comparable quality.
