Histologic examination revealed a proliferation of fibroblastlike cells forming a dome-shaped nodule filling the dermis and surrounding associated adnexal structures. Small bundles of collagen could be seen interspersed between the proliferating cells. Characteristic small, round, eosinophilic, paranuclear, cytoplasmic inclusion bodies were seen on staining with hematoxylin-eosin. A Masson trichrome stain was used to further highlight these inclusion bodies, staining them bright red.
