Structural Fat Grafting is a single-author text by the guru of fat transplantation. Sydney Coleman, a plastic surgeon from New York City, did not invent fat transplantation but is the field’s foremost practitioner, whose single-minded pursuit of perfection has led to substantial improvements in technique. Known by many as the developer of the Coleman cannulas, he is also, as this book demonstrates, able to impart his knowledge through written and visual communication.
Overall, this is a definitive exposition of a mature field that has room to grow. The comprehensive, systematic, clear approach makes this book useful for surgeons at different levels of expertise. Theoretically, a physician who has never performed fat transplantation could start after a close read. The full-color diagrams and the color photographs, many with superimposed clarifying marks, are simple and easy to understand. Pictures of instruments are provided to help the beginner. The explanation of technique in a step-by-step manner leaves little to the imagination or to chance.
