Editor's Note: The Archives of Dermatology celebrated its centennial with a special issue reproducing the most important articles published in its first 100 years. Accompanying these reproductions were commentaries by leading scholars explaining the significance of the original reports and summarizing whatever progress had been made in their respective fields in the intervening years. This 1899 article by Dr Boeck deserves particular prominence as the first paper to be singled out for such recognition. "Archives a Century Ago" is honored to have William L. Epstein, MD, author of the centennial editorial, return to these pages. With his collaborator, D. Geraint James, MD, he brings us up to date on the current status of Boeck's sarcoidosis.
