Histopathologic examination revealed a broad and deep polymorphous infiltrate of small, medium, and large lymphocytes, plasma cells, and eosinophils (Figure 2 and Figure 3). In areas, aggregates of large lymphocytes with markedly enlarged nuclei and prominent nucleoli were seen. Multinucleated cells were found scattered throughout the infiltrate. The epidermis was not involved by the infiltrative process, but discrete areas of ulceration were noted.
