Imiquimod: A New Possibility for Treatment-Resistant Verrucae Planae

We report the successful treatment of multiple verrucae planae in a 42-year-old man with topical application of 5% imiquimod cream. Imiquimod is a new immune response modifier for local application that induces the release of cytokines including interferon alfa, tumor necrosis factor α, and certain interleukins by peripheral mononuclear blood cells and lymphocytes.1
