125th Anniversary of the American Dermatological Association

SEPTEMBER 2001 marked the 125th Anniversary of the American Dermatological Association (ADA), the first and oldest national dermatological association in the world. In June 1876 at the American Medical Association Meeting, 6 physicians decided to form a dermatology society: George Henry Fox, MD, and L. Duncan Bulkley, MD, both of New York, NY; Louis A. Duhring, MD, of Philadelphia, Pa; I. E. Atkinson, MD, of Baltimore, Md; Lunsford P. Yandell, MD, of Louisville, Ky; and Edward Wigglesworth, MD, of Boston, Mass.
